Tis the Season for Prom

Every one is talking about prom now that spring break is over. It's driving me nuts!

I saw a trailer for a Disney movie titled "Prom". At first I thought "What else can Disney come up with next? I mean they've done a movie on everything just about now." Then I thought "Really? A movie about a bunch of teenagers dreaming about a school dance that won't matter in 10 years? Please..."
But don't get me wrong, prom is fun. I went last year with a guy that a friend of mine hooked me up with. He asked me 4 days before prom so I was in a mad rush to get everything planned. Together, we planned everything within 24 hours through text messaging. I don't think anyone else can pull that off. The next day I called another friend to borrow a dress. The next day I bought my ticket at the affordable price of $40 and ordered a flower thingy for my date for $17. I did my own hair and i wore sandals instead of heels (the dress was long enough so you couldn't see them). We ate at a seafood restraunt where my date's steak wasn't cook the right way so they took it back 3 times, but they gave us free dessert for the inconvience. The couple that was suppose to meet us there was an hour late so we were by ourselves fo a long time, and the guy wasn't exactly the social type but we enjoyed each other's company. We arrived at the ballroom fashionably late, as most people did, and looked upon the others dancing and the chaperones standing against the wall dreading every moment. Today's generation likes to grind on each other instead of facing each other to dance. Me and my date wern't those kind of people so we just chilled, talked to each other, talked to other people, ate some of the chocolate fondue, and watched the crowning of the king and queen. What made me laugh was that some parents were there, trying to live out their dreams through their children. Haha. We did finally slow dance, then he took me home.

So, if you are going to prom, I hope you have fun. Just don't plan last minute and go to the same restraunt I did.

Cheer, Cheer, Cheer for Central!

Th smell of popcorn, the roar of the rowdy student section, the booming voices of the cheerleading team, the bounce of the basketball, the squeak of sneakers.... Ahhhh, gotta love high school basketball!!

I've always enjoyed walking into the big gym to watch the thrill and the excitement of high school basketball. I have watched it all my life and it never seems to get old. In fact, I have just about memorized each sideline that the cheerleaders do. Also, I have lived off of the concession diet for quite some time. My mom and i have been to so many away games, we have started to rate schools by how good their concession food is. Ours is still on top. Our basketball team has been one of the greats in the state in my opinion ever since the school first opened its doors many moons ago. A lot of people around here would agree with me. Just ask the long time fans that have recieved athletic passes for almost 20 years and has been to every home game. Our cheerleaders are the best too. They have won numerous state titles in a row and several national titles, just to brag. They always bring home the hardware.

I will always love my school's sports!!!

Snow Days

Here, it snows.... a lot.
And often we get out of school. Just one little harmless snowflake can turn dangerous for our many winding backroads. Our school board doesn't like to use hour delays because it's too much of a hassle for parents to make arrangements for their children. But what do they do when there is no school at all? Isn't that worse?? It makes no sense to me at all, but maybe behind the twisted logic, it makes sense. I don't really know.

We've already missed at total of 5 days. And those days get tagged on to our calendar. So now our last day is not in May, but it is in June. How wonderful. I'm dreading it in a way, because i get to see al of the lovely faces i want to see even longer than i want to (NOT), but I also don't really care. The more snow days the better.I like the time off!

School Dances are Overrated/ Dance Survival Tips

I love my school, but what's so great about school dances like prom and snowball? Yea, I've been to a few and they are not all bad but they are somewhat pointless. A very close friend of mine says "who wants to go dance in a place where they serve you gross food?" (our dances are in the cafeteria) That is quite a valid point. And to add to it, it smells like b.o. because of the amount of people crammed into this place. Well in my experience, I have learned quite a few thing so here are a few survival tips if you are the lucky one attending.
1. Unless it's prom, don't go with a date. It's always fun to go with a group of friends. Don't always think that you have to be in love to go to a dance.
2. You're not cool when you wear sunglasses into the dance. It's already dark in there as it is.
3. Ladies, wear shoes that are comfortable. Yea, those designer stilettos are pretty but also painful to walk/ dance in and half of you that wear them take them off anyway.
4. When you dance, don't make it look like you're "doing it". Get a room. lol.
5. Teachers and Chaperones are not going to dance with you so don't ask. They probably do not want to be there watching you dance anyway.
6. Have a budget for your wardrobe, food, transportation, hair, nails, etc. You don't wanna max out daddy's credit card just for one night.
7. Most of all, have fun! It's your night to hang out and have fun with friends!

HS dating: the bane of my existance

Dating: the form of communication that involves social interaction between a male and female. When it happens in high school, it is ridiculous. When a girl dates a guy in high school, or the other way around, its like Copernicus rebuilt his model of the universe to revolve around that one person. There have been some good couples to come out of my school, dont get me wrong, but 85% of them go down like the titanic. It goes like this: boy meets girl, boy goes out with girl, boy and girl fall in love, boy and girl get in a fight, and then both go through a horrible breakup. Why does dating have to happen in high school? It's like we're not mature enough. But in all the bad points, there is one thing we can pull from it: this type of dating can make us wiser and more knowledgeable.

Time to start back

Today is the las day of christmas break. I hate going back after 2 weeks off!
It will be a time of starting fresh, well not completely since we had snow days on the days we were suppose to have finals so that's what we'll be doing this week. (insert frowny face.) Also, we'll get to see all of our friends and teachers too. We'll also see the return of basketball games, and it looks like our first formal dance is coming up. Looks like a busy week.

Prologue

I am new to the blogging thing so cut me a break. Haha
This blog will tell you all about my 2nd home which is my high school. My mom has worked there as long as i can remember and i was always by her side, walking through those blue and white hallways. Most seniors in my class are so ready to leave. I'm all about the independence, but i happen to love that 3 story building, that houses Indian Pride. Its grown on me i guess, and i cant wait to possibly teach there one day.

I have too much school spirit! But hey, is having too much of a good thing bad?
